Improved ergonomics and worker assistance: Broetje-Automation UK introduces the Lift-E-50 mobile manipulator system

Content

Broetje-Automation UK has introduced the Lift-E-50, a new addition to the Broetje-Automation portfolio of ergonomic operational toolings. This highly flexible, mobile manipulator can handle loads of up to 50 kilograms in workshop environments.

In a recent customer project, it was necessary to lift heavy workpieces and position them with high precision within a confined and challenging environment while keeping the overall system flexible and movable on the shopfloor. As most existing systems on the market did not meet the required technical criteria, performance or agility, Broetje-Automation UK collaborated with the Spanish tooling partner TECNOSPIRO and integrated their 3ARM M5 manipulator with additional functionality for mobility and electrification into the Lift-E-50 system.

A Mobile Manipulator for Ergonomic and Flexible Applications

The 3ARM ergonomic articulated arm is specifically engineered to make heavy tools or workpieces feel weightless for operators. With its customised end-of-arm tooling it provided the best solution for the team.

In addition, the Broetje-Automation UK project team developed an integrated solution that combines TECNOSPIRO’s proven ergonomic excellence with a highly advanced powered wheel system and additionally enhanced safety features.

The Lift-E-50’s combining architecture delivers significantly enhanced ergonomics, productivity, safety, and operator comfort by reducing physical strain and fatigue. It is engineered to traverse gradients safely without any risk of rolling back, ensuring stable, controlled ascent and descent, and delivering reliable operation even in the most demanding and safety-critical workshop environments.

Its compact footprint and intuitive operation enable a high level of flexibility. This is particularly beneficial in assembly areas, logistics zones, or workshops where crane availability is restricted or impractical.

Innovation Made in the UK

Developing proprietary products is a key element of Broetje-Automation’s long-term strategy. Equipped with advanced tooling and state-of-the-art equipment such as the Lift-E-50, the company is well-positioned to respond with precision to the diverse needs of its clients and to unlock new market opportunities. This is particularly relevant for ergonomic operational toolings that support operators in the aerospace sector and enable new applications beyond traditional markets.

It also demonstrates how innovations from around the world enhance the overall portfolio to serve Broetje-Automation’s customer base with solutions for the Factory of the Future.
